Major and Minor Scales…Minor Scales and Keys can Make Music Sound Spooky!

“The crucial difference is that in the minor scale there is only a half step between the second and third tones as compared to the major scales where the difference between third and fourth note and between the seventh and the eighth note is half.”

I love to share with my students the difference between major and minor keys. I always share with the younger students that the major scales are sunny sounding and the minor keys can be sad or creepy sounding.

Here is a way that I am teaching my students this year to play the scales. These are easy 5 finger scales.
